DIY Closet Organization and Wardrobe Organization

When it comes to the organization around the house, my major weakness is my closet. While my partner’s clothing is neatly folded, hung, stacked, and straightened, mine is generally draped over every bit of furniture in the bedroom, overflowing from laundry baskets, and in a general state of disarray. Since it’s definitely an area I need to work on, I thought today might be a good time to share some neat DIY closet organization ideas that I think could help me out of my wardrobe woes!

My no. 1 clothing pet peeve? Slippery clothing on slippery hangers! I can’t stand those frustrating moments when you attempt to balance a slinky dress or top on a hanger that just won’t hang on. This DIY by In My Own Style is not only brilliant, but it’s also pretty too!

The Thinking Closet took a rake, some spray paint, and a little finesse to create this gorgeous jewelry holder. They’ve used twine as an accent, but depending on your style you could swap it out for yarn, ribbon, or striped baker’s twine!

A tiny hanger for your tiny belts! How cute is this idea from Shanty2Chic? You could also mount this on a wall inside your closet, or add more hooks to the back to double your storage capacity!

Keep your eyewear where you can see it with this funky DIY from Sugar Filled Closet. I have also used an old wooden hanger, hung from a nail on the wall, to store sunglasses. I used to display them like this when I owned a clothing store.

This simple idea, from Angela Hardison, could be used on the inside of your closet or even on the back of the closet door. Isn’t her collection of vintage scarves lovely?
