Flower Child Hair Style Tutorial
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it’s an opportunity for me to have some fun with my style.
Sure, a costume can have all of the most perfect pieces and props to bring it to life, but it’s no surprise that what can really turn a drab costume into a fab costume is the hair. Wigs are one way to go, but experimenting and exploring some styles to do with my natural hair to complete my costume is part of the thrill of dressing up.
This year I’ve decided to fully embrace my 70s, hippie soul and be a whimsical flower child for Halloween.
Wash Hair Before Styling
The starting point, of course, is a healthy, beautifully nourished head of hair.
To start my look, I am sure to wash my hair with a good shampoo. For this look, I used Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Shampoo and Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Conditioner to help protect and prevent the extra stress that may come with holiday hairstyling. Formulated with Nutri-Keratin Repair Actives, the shampoo, and conditioner help to treat the appearance of heat-damaged hair so that it looks healthy, strong against breakage, and beautiful.

The perfect canvas for a hippie, flower child costume!
STEP 1: Start With Clean, Dry Hair.
STEP 2: Creating Beachy Waves.
I prefer a flat iron to create loose, beachy waves, but if you are more comfortable with a curling iron – go for it!
STEP 3: Add a Flower Crown
Here’s a quick video tutorial:
What I love most about this year’s Halloween hairstyle is that it can be worn the day following the festivities (maybe minus the flower crown unless I’m still feeling it) with a little help from the Dove Refresh+Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo.
